These started off from an idea of making an affordable mermaid top for myself. I always love making things out of unconventional materials, so the idea to hand sew guitar picks onto a swim top to look like scales began!

All picks are hand sewn onto the tops to avoid the use of glue for environmental purposes when swimming in natural bodies of water.
This technique was also used in a custom dress I did for Miss Mermaid Texas.
